My first entry the curse of Peter Crouch

                      LATE NIGHT THOUGHTS

I was sitting up tonight alone with my thoughts after watching my wanker Pirates get smoked in 14 innings agianst the division rival Cardinals and it occured to me no wonder i've been avoiding watching these last 2 months at all cost. The last 2 Pittsburgh Pirate seasons have mirrored those of my beloved Spurs of the EPL Hope Springs eternal in the offseason, We start off great only to have our hearts thrown underneath a mac truck in the last month of the season.

See baseball and English soccer are similar in some ways the season is long full of twists and turns and at the end only a handful of teams can claim any type of prize.  Thats where the similarities end see for us Spurs fans we have patiently waited for our year to come. We did have the 2011-12 campaign which seen our Champions League hearts ripped out by an overzealous Peter Crouch deciding to get 2 dumb yellow cards in a matter of 20 minutes now im not sayin that we could have taken down the Spanish Giants I am simply sayin that if your gonna handicap yourself to 10 men against the likes of Rondaldo Ozil Benzema and company especially on the road you might as well pack up and wait for next year.

Which is exactly what we were planning to do. That is until a Chelsea team filled with nothing but turmoil and uncertainty. A team that had a manager that was youthful and had great visions of building Chelsea into a future dynasty but was putting the present on hold for the future something that owner Ibromavich was very unhappy with so the sacked AVB. Some how Some way though this team comprised of some fringe players, unhappy wantaways, a caretaker coach, and some key veteran leadership somehow pulled off the upset of the centuary and not only made the champions league final but beat Bayern Munich.

Now honestly I am glad that an English team won a Champions League but in that one year that one moment it was all ripped away dreams of returning to the grandure of the Champions League Stage after ripping and tearing through a premier league season where we flirted with Title Contention and almost certainty of finishing above that hated French North team from across town only to see both of those torn away during the last couple weeks. Not only am i dealing with those 2 losses now i have to stomach watching us loose out to Chelsea who go from premier league champs to Europa league qualification rounds during the EPL season but are saved because by some miracle they put a run together once a month and found a way to win the stinkin tournament and who gets the boot in the process thats right none other than THFC.

Ok so here we go again a new season a new manager and no more Luka Modric BS!!! No more HARRY REDKNAPP DEADLINE DAYS. 2012 -2013 is upon us the squad looks great new signings and Bale recommits to us. Another great season in March we are talked about as a team who undoubtedly will maintain a top 4 finish as those English wannabees next door are struggling away but we also are challenging a realing Manchester City team and Chelsea for 2nd place. Then by some strange force of wizardry or Hocus Pocus or maybe Harry Houdini has cast his spell on Arsenal i have no idea but Spurs loose form and Chelsea and Arsenal forget what losing feels like and AVB's accumulation of the highest point total in Spurs history goes to waste as THFC once again finish 1 point behind Arsenal 3 behind Chelsea and in 5th place just shy of that coveted Champions League birth again.

Now i have no idea what is going on up in North London i am an american myself but I can say this for sure even being a Pirate fan for 27 years I have never seen such an unexplainable run of bad luck. My only explination is that Peter Crouch himself doomed us by the 2 most unexplicable dumb yellow cards i've ever seen. I hope its not like the curse of the bambino or anything close to what the cubs have endured or Tottenham you are in for some more heartbreak but i can tell you that Karma was biting us for blowing a shot to unseat Real Madrid and make a serious charge at a European title.

Lets snap back to 2013-2014 here we are again just 3 days from the start of another EPL season and things have never been more wide open. Yes yes i know Man City and Chelsea are still spending away but they have both changed managers and the Premier League Champs have lost the Fergie Edge. Arsenal haven't Spent a dime worth spending and yes thats right not only do we still have Bale (for now) we have also broght in support at the positions we lacked last year. People THFC added to a midfield which in my opinion was already second to none. Last year we played the most appealing style of football in all of England we only lacked someone to put that in the back of the net. May I introduce to you Roberto Soldado. Just the man do to that an impecible record in La Liga which is the second best league in the world just behind ours.

Now i know i said we had the best mid-field last year but if your not going forward your going what? Yes thats right backward but dont worry my friends we made tremendous leaps forward bringing in Chadli and o ya lets not forget Brazil international Paulinho who in my opinion may be the most lucritive signing all year for 17m pound he will be worth every penny and then some at 25 he is slightly older than what we are used too but this guy has just hit his prime and knows how to score goals and defend. Watching him vs. Espanyol was like watching Younis Koubol meets Raphael Vander Vart. I love this guy and he makes us one of the 3 best midfields in the world with Bale, Lennon, Dembele, Chadli, Sandro(who is like a new signing after not having him for a whole year), Capoue, Sigurdsson(who also is playing extremely well this preseason in my opinion), Holtby(another player who i feel has a whole other gear to show us) and Townsend we have strength and depth and strength at depth.

My friend I introduce to you what i feel will be the EPL runner up second only to our cross town rivals.
the 2013-2014 Tottenham Hotspurs. This team is just to talented to not make the top 4 this year and i can see them finishing as high as 2nd. Everyone else is in transition, Chelsea are the only ones who have a manager who is used to managing a high profile team with high profile players. I mean are we seriously thinkin that Manuel Pellagrini is going to be able to keep all those egos in check. Malaga don't have one player that could break the top 11 at Chelsea this year, and although i love David Moyes is he really the next SAF i dont think so. Arsenal haven't done a thing but hold onto the same squad who started the first 10 games fighting to get into the top 10 and if it weren't for an unbelievable unexplainible run for 4 whole months they would be sitting back in North London while we were playin this year in the Champions League

Lady's and gentlemen I perdict we keep Gareth Bale 1 more year and in that year we finish 2nd and in doing so we may even convince the welshman that his future is hear and that he can't outgrow a club thats growing with him. Until tommorow COYS!!!!
